Always fancied yourself as a perfumer but never knew how or where to get started? Thanks to perfumer and founder of the Experimental Perfume Club Emmanuelle Moeglin, the veil has been lifted on the mysterious and often inaccessible industry of fragrance.
Established in 2016 as an open-access fragrance lab and perfume creation studio, the Experimental Perfume Club initially spent six months as a pop up in Dalston, before moving to its new and permanent home in the East London creative hub of Netil House.
The new, split-level lab is a micro-perfumery, specialising in bespoke creations for individuals and brands and education through workshops, one-to-one consultations and open-lab sessions.
Guests of Experimental Perfume Club are invited to get creative and hands-on with perfumery through a series of exclusive or group perfume-making workshops. Each workshop allows participants to delve into the art of perfume creation, rediscover their sense of smell and design their perfect blend with a trained perfumer.
“Experimental Perfume Club was born out of a desire to help people reconnect with their senses and access the “behind the scenes” world of a product that everybody uses but few know much about,” says Emmanuelle. “’I had a desire to bring the wonders of fragrance to the world – exciting, exacting and exploratory, just how scent should be. It’s wonderful to see people become so excited about taking home a unique creation, which is not available anywhere else.”
Emmanuelle’s fragrance journey began 12 years ago at the prestigious ISIPCA in Versailles, one of the world’s leading perfume schools. There, she learned the science and secrets of fragrance creation, training with Annick Goutal’s perfumer Isabelle Doyen and Master perfumer Rosendo Mateu. Since then, she has travelled the world working as a scent design manager for global fragrance brands in Paris, Barcelona and New York, alongside some of the biggest perfumers in the world.
Experimental Perfume Club is a unique destination for all wearers and lovers of perfume and is the only London perfumery allowing direct and open access to wide-ranging ingredients and blending techniques.
For novices and connoisseurs alike, the lab offers a wide variety of expert-led workshops and master-classes where you can discover the rules and art of perfumery and create your own bespoke fragrance.
“I’m proud EPC has helped over 500 experimental perfume makers design their own bespoke fragrance and I’m excited to announce a new page for Experimental Perfume Club with a bigger studio and as part of a wider, creative community,”. “The new space will enable the Lab to host more workshops and open-lab days and welcome bigger groups of individuals and businesses.” Emmanuelle Moeglin.
